ANABELA SUSANA DE SOUSA GONÇALVES

Anabela Gonçalves is currently Vice-President and Associate Professor at the School of Law
from the University of Minho. She is also: Director of the Career Opportunities Office; member of
Scientific Council of the School of the School of Law, member of the Course Committee of the
Degree in Law, member of the Steering Committee of the Master in Children's Law,
Family and Succession and the LLM Steering Committee in European and Transglobal Business Law.
Anabela Susana de Sousa Gonçalves has a PhD in Legal and Private Sciences from the Escola
of Law (ED) from the University of Minho (2012), Master in Legal and Business Sciences
from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (2003), with a degree in Law from the
University of Minho Law School (1999).
Anabela Gonçalves has since 2014 been appointed an expert by the European Commission to assess the
funding projects submitted to the Commission under the JUSTICE programme, including
projects in the field of judicial cooperation in civil material, and was appointed by the Commission
European Commission for the Expert Group for the Review of Regulation No. 2201/2003 on
International Jurisdiction and Recognition of Decisions in Matrimonial Matters and
parental responsibility. He is currently a member of the European Research Council, as
evaluator, appointed by the European Commission.
Areas of interest: Civil Law (contract law and civil liability); Right
International Private; International Civil Procedure; Judicial Cooperation in Civil Matters and
Commercial, Data Protection.

Anabela Susana de Sousa Gonçalves holds a PhD in Legal-Privatistic Sciences from the Law
School (ED) of the University of Minho (2012), a Master in Legal and Business Sciences from
the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (2003), and is graduated in Law from the
School of Law at the University of Minho (1999).
Anabela Gonçalves has been appointed expert of the European Commission since 2014 to
Evaluate the financing projects submitted to the Commission under the JUSTICE program,
including projects within the scope of judicial cooperation in civil material, and was appointed
by the European Commission to the Group of Experts for the Revision of Regulation No.
2201/2003 on International Competence and Recognition of decisions in matrimonial matters
and parental responsibility. Currently, she is also a member of the European Research Council,
as an evaluator, appointed by the European Commission.
